The Macquarie Marshes (Bird Viewing Platform site) are located on the Gibson Way, approximately 73km west of Coonamble near Quambone. The National Parks & Wildlife Service (NPWS) Nature Reserve (Northern site entry) is located on the Warren/ Carinda Road.
It is highly recommended that you contact the Coonamble Visitor Information Centre on to check the road conditions before you plan your trip as the Marshes are located on unsealed roads prone to flooding. For general enquiries contact the Pilliga Forest Discovery Centre on (02) 6843 4011.
One of the best ways to explore the Marshes is by a guided kayak or bushwalking tour. Tour operator Carollyn Fisher has a wealth of knowledge on birdlife in the marshes. Three or more people are required to run a tour and charges apply. Dependant on water availability. Contact Carollyn Fisher on (02) 6822 5428 for further information.
