Innovative and enthusiastic locals have again kicked off another community arts project in Gulargambone.
The Gulargambone Community Enterprises Co-operative is working on a main street beautification project involving a series of artist installations in the windows of five newly renovated shops. These artists include Alison Dent, Sam Wykes, Brian Campbell, Anna Kaineder and Ana Robson creating a mix of metal and wire sculptures, delicate paper works and ceramics.
Pops of colour and this interesting sculpture window gallery will lift the look of the main street and make the disused shops attractive, purposeful and drive traffic into the CBD.
A collaborative ‘Paint by Numbers’ activity was completed with the students of Gulargambone Central School, to transform another piece of Bourbah Street. Illustrator, Shannon Keane, of Zest Events International joined the team for a day, creating a design on a 22 metre corrugated iron fence while the kids brought it to life. They created a quirky and colourful collection of animals, representing the rural community.
We encourage everyone going through the town to call in and have a look at the quirky and colourful projects that are transforming Gular!
