In 2017, the 26 metre water tower in Coonamble received a huge makeover from one of the region's favourite artists.
Based in Lightning Ridge, John Murray is very well known for his photo-realistic outback art.
"I try to convey the endearing qualities of country life by drawing on everyday situations, human folly, places and scenes that are a familiar part of life in the bush."
John and fellow artist Bob Barrett finished the mural in a week using spray guns and paint brushes.
The design incorporates galahs which represent community, and feature fence posts to signify the rural aspect of Coonamble, plus the sun, moon and Southern Cross.
Aboriginal dreamtime artwork also features on the water tank, by local artist ‘Sooty’ Welsh.
John said that by having all of the different elements on the mural really encompasses the town of Coonamble, past, present and future.
